PDF ISO 32000-1

The ISO 32000-1:2008 PDF open standard was published by the ISO on July 1, 2008. The specification can be freely obtained at Adobe's website:

PDF/A ISO 19005-1

The PDF/A Competence Center is the home of the PDF/A standard. While the actual ISO 19005-1 standard needs to be purchased from ISO and is not freely available, the PDF/A Competence center does host a wealth of technical documents related to PDF/A: PDF/A Technical Documents

XMP

Adobe's Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) is a labeling technology that allows you to embed data about a file, known as metadata, into the file itself. Current versions of the specification are on Adobe's website:
